I have called the service and parts department at Whirlpool and asked if there were other grates for this cooktop and told there were not. I believe Whirlpool has a serious design flaw with this cooktop. The bottom of the pan sits 2 inches from the top of the burner. So, the flame is still about an inch and a half from the bottom of the pot. I conducted a few experiments and can boil 1.5 cups of water in my microwave in 2.5 minutes. It takes 3.5 minutes to boil that same amount of water, which measured a half inch in a 7 inch pot. To boil 5 quarts of water it took 32 minutes and that was not even a full rolling boil. It was rolling around the edge of my Club Aluminum Dutch oven at 32 minutes. Therefore, if I plan to serve a quick meal with pasta involved, I have to allow at least 40 minutes just to cook the pasta. That is absurd because I could cook the same meal and have on the table within 25 minutes when I used my electric cook top. The quality is good but with the grates being so far above the flame I could not give the cooktop a higher rating.

The stove top is efficient and so easy to clean. Only one drawback - the top grates are not easily removed and placed back after cleaning. Slots to hold them in place would have been better.

I love this cooktop. Enough room to use all 5 burners at once if needed. The simmer and quick boil burners are great. Looks great in our kitchen.
