I bought this new at home depot in 2012 and paid an extra fee for the 5 year warranty. I'l give credit that it is a nice-looking unit and is functionally effective. Having said that, I will cut straight to the chase - we have had nothing but trouble with this unit. We ran into 2 problems at the same time, when the unit was approximately 3 years old. First, we discovered water leaking out of the bottom, onto our floor, and ultimately leaking all the way through the floor and causing damage to the downstairs ceiling. The second issue was the ice maker become non-operative. Since we were beyond the warranty period, we called the extended warranty service and they dispatched a technician. On the first issue, he diagnosed this as a "common problem" for Maytag French door models, which is the drain plug freezing up which causes water to leak into the bottom of the freezer area, resulting in ice build-up and eventually flowing out onto the floor. This same issue is described time and again in the reviews below and in online forums, and there are even YouTube how-to videos on how to "fix" it. The technician at the time said to empty the unit and allow the plug to unfreeze, which takes 24 hours (since learned on YouTube that the same result can be accomplished with a hair dryer). On the second issue, he disassembled the whole ice making unit only to determine that their service dispatch or someone at Maytag did not provide the right replacement parts for this model, so he had to order the parts for the model and schedule a return visit. After he came back and swapped out the proper parts, the ice maker would continue to make ice even when you shut it off on the control panel. It was such a hassle that we just learned to live with it rather than have to schedule around our busy careers and family. As for the drain plug, we also lived with that problem for at least another year, chipping away and disposing the ice rink that forms every 2 weeks. We decided to finally hassle the thaw out process when we had to tent our house for termites, so emptied out the fridge and let it sit for 24 hours. After giving the whole interior a good cleaning out, we turned it back on loaded it back up, and... wait for it.. the next day there was water draining into the bottom and ice beginning to form. Bottom line: when I bought this in 2012, I went with Whirlpool-owned Maytag because I believe in buying Made in the USA, and although it was more than $2000, it seemed like a good value. My wife is fed up, given the ice rink return, so we will be buying an LG (highly-rated) and unceremoniously send this to to appliance recycling (as my conscience would never allow me to sell such a poorly performing appliance to someone else only for them to become frustrated and have their home suffer water damage). I've attached a picture of the ice rink as it started to form post thaw-out.

we have had this refrigerator for years and it has leaked as long as we've had it. you have to climb around the freezer to get the ice out of the bottom or it leaks on the floor. We've had to replace our kitchen flooring. What a mess. I love the way the refrigerator is set up but will never buy a maytag again. And after reading all the reviews people have had the same problems. And the next one I will check reviews before buying another. This thing has cost me a lot of money

Got this about four months ago when our old one was beyond repair. Really like the design and there is a lot of room. The big drawer for meat, etc. is wonderful and shallow so you can easily find everything. There are two drawers/bins for vegetables/fruits and humidity control is independent so we have fruit in one and veggies in the other. The repair technician at our local store gave positive input on this model of icemaker. We have not had one before, and love the ice & water in the door. We were afraid the freezer would be hard to organize, but it isn't and with the rolling basket it is easy to find things (although we have a system to place things). If it is as reliable as Maytag appliances of the past we will be happy for a long time.

We limited our choices to made in USA and found this to be the best Value. We've had this refrigerator for a year now, and the family's favorite feature is the water/ice dispenser. We have a large family and it gets heavy use. For day-to-day use, the ice maker always keeps up with our high demand which starts with to-go cups of crushed ice in the morning. Fridge on top is great after years of the old freezer on the top style. Visibility is excellent, drawers glide smoothly, and we love the big deli drawer (but it's so deep sometimes items get forgotten in the back). The only negative is the limited vertical space in the fridge section. Once you get above the two rows of drawers, there's not much room to work with if you want to be able to put tall bottles on the top shelf. We did need warranty service on the icemaker/dispenser but all has been good since the replacement was installed.
