Another Door Latch Problem

This unit was purchased just over three years ago. A few months ago, every once in a while, the unit displayed the Open/Close Door message at which point we would open and close the door and the unit would operate. As time went by it went from being an intermittent problem to being a major hassle and now it just plain will not work........except for the Open/Close Door message. This is very disappointing! All our appliances are whirlpool and enjoy them all but this microwave is the pits.

Unreliable, recurring problem makes it unusable

Purchased Model #: WMH53520CW. Broke while under warranty (machine would not run; message "ck power, open/close door" & was repaired. Worked about one more year, then problem reoccurred. No longer under warranty. Lot to pay for something that worked for such a brief time. Did not have similar problems with the many we opened prior to this one

Big issue on an otherwise great microwave

Our microwave worked great for a number of months after being installed. We like all the features. It has an intuitive interface, looks great in our kitchen and is far, far quieter than the microwave it replaced. However, we started having occasional issues with the microwave not properly sensing when the door had been opened or closed. When opening the door the light remains off and it displays a message telling you to open/close the door if you try to start the microwave. Opening and shutting the door a number of times (sometimes once, other times it takes 10+ tries) can clear the issue and allow you to to successfully “start” the microwave. Now, just a week over the 1 year purchase date, the microwave is encountering the issue about 30% of the time. It’s driving us crazy - hopefully there’s a solution to be had since it’s been a great unit in all other respects.
